ANN SACKS® unveils Neo Terrazzo collection by Andy Fleishman PORTLAND, Ore. (May 1, 2009) – An exclusive new collection by Andy Fleishman was unveiled at the Kitchen/Bath Industry Show in Atlanta by ANN SACKS, a premier manufacturer and distributor of tile, stone and plumbing products. Fleishman’s latest imaginative endeavor into the world of flooring is Neo Terrazzo, a stand-alone collection with the same environmental thoughtfulness and creativity employed in the development of Variations, his first ANN SACKS collection introduced in 2007. The artistic flair and unusual design elements of Neo Terrazzo bring an innovative choice to the standard concrete flooring options available today. Based upon years of working with concrete and cement products, Fleishman has become a master in the industry, manipulating basic natural materials to explore extraordinary new ways to utilize this environmentally appropriate medium into stunningly original tiles. A neutral palette was selected for the field with its aggregate pattern a scattered inlay of exposed stone and glass fragments. The tiles are honed to a matte finish for a smooth, resilient surface. Offered in 12x12 and 12x14 hexagonal shapes, the distinct, cascading design can be placed together creating an active component to the floor and providing practically limitless ways to customize an installation. “Each individual tile is a unique configuration conveying a lively feel within a room,” said DeeDee Gundberg, senior staff designer, ANN SACKS. “The random placement of minerals and stones create an unexpected composition with the line between the positive and negative space of the pattern partially filled in by the viewer’s eye." Long-lasting and low-maintenance, Neo Terrazzo is suitable for indoor and outdoor environments. The tiles are made from specially selected, North Carolina sand and a variety of stones and recycled glass with no chemical additives. The tiles do not require any kiln-firing, but are air-cured making Neo Terrazzo an ecologically sound choice for flooring. The tiles also bring the benefit of enhanced energy efficiency by absorbing heat from the sun during the day and slowly releasing it at night. |
